Welcome to our blog

This will be our online home for the next little bit, while our website gets upgraded. It's pretty cosy - got a nice fridge that came with it actually, which is well bonus. Stick around and have a sniff about. We'll post news and what not about our happenings when we get the chance.

Vigilantelope has garnered critical acclaim for its narrative style and a great deal of attention as an emerging force in Australian comedy. “It is hard to avoid the feeling that, watching this performance, you are witnessing the birth of a new generation of comedic actors.” (The Pun, 2009)

Forging their own brand of comic storytelling, Vachel Spirason, Joel Tito, Pat Miller, Tim McDonald and Stephanie Brotchie bring to life scores of iconic characters and cement themselves as a group to watch in the new wave of Australian comedy. Fantastical, musical, topical & hysterical, their work is as silly as it is cerebral.

Vigilantelope’s ‘Tale of the Golden Lease’ sold out each night of its season at the 2009 Melbourne International Comedy Festival, was nominated for a Golden Gibbo Award for Best Independent Production and was named one of The Pun’s Top 5 not-just-stand up shows of the Comedy Festival. The group presented an encore performance of the show at the 2009 Melbourne Fringe Festival, being awarded the Auspicious Arts Award as well as a High Commendation in the Best Comedy category.

Vigilantelope performed alongside The Goodies at the inaugural World's Funniest Island Festival in Sydney in 2009, and have gathered a cult following through performances at independent comedy nights such as Character Comedy and the Last Tuesday Society in Melbourne.

They were awarded a 2010 Hothouse Residency for the development of a new work, and were invited to perform in the Garden of Unearthly Delights at the 2010 Adelaide Fringe Festival, where they were the Judges' Commendation for Best Emerging Comedy.

Vigilantelope are an independent comedy group and are completely self-financed. If you feel like supporting us in our efforts to bring audiences innovative and exciting new works, you can chuck us some cash through the donate button below. We'd love you forever.
